Tagging, Tracking...and what's this structured blogging
Definitions:
- Metadata from Wikipedia: basically it's data about data. So, it's information or coding that says "This picture is about beach (ex)" or "This URL is about nonprofit technology(ex)" or "This blog is about feminism(ex)."
- Tagging from Wikipedia: Keywords. It's a nice word for keywords.
- Folksonomy from Wikipedia: Cute isn't it? It's a neologism that combines "folks" and "taxonomy." So, rather than a categorization structure that's been defined by some group with authority (think the OCLC and book classification schemes like Dewey Decimal) it the ability of anyone to assign a keyword in such a way that it can make an ad hoc categorical structure.
- Structured Blogging
- Microformats from Wikipedia: Essentially it's a way of saying that blog post is a review or that the information on this page is a resume.
